Minnesota Disaster Recovery Fund Awards Round Three Grant Funding

Minnesota Council on Foundations and Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundation Award over $2 Million in Round Three Grant Funding

The Minnesota Council on Foundations (MCF) in partnership with the Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundation (the Foundation) and a cross-sector advisory committee selected a third round of grantees, awarding over $2 million in funds from the Minnesota Disaster Recovery Fund for coronavirus.

Twenty-two place-based community foundations were awarded a total of $820,000 to support their local communities. These organizations included:

  • Community Foundation of Grand Forks, East Grand Forks & Region
  • CommunityGiving
  • Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation
  • Eagan Community Foundation
  • Eden Prairie Community Foundation
  • Fargo-Moorhead Area Foundation
  • Golden Valley Community Foundation
  • Greater White Bear Lake Community Foundation
  • Initiative Foundation
  • Luverne Area Community Foundation
  • Mankato Area Foundation
  • Northfield Shares
  • Northland Foundation
  • Northwest Minnesota Foundation
  • Richfield Community Foundation
  • Rochester Area Foundation
  • Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation
  • Southwest Initiative Foundation
  • St. Croix Valley Community Foundation
  • West Central Initiative
  • Winona Community Foundation
  • Woodbury Community Foundation

In addition, $1.2 million was awarded to the following intermediaries:

  • Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa ($50,000)
  • Headwaters Foundation for Justice ($50,000)
  • Hmong American Partnership ($100,000)
  • International Institute of Minnesota ($50,000)
  • Minneapolis Jewish Federation ($50,000)
  • Minnesota River Area Agency on Aging ($100,000)
  • MN Immigrant Family Fund/Navigate ($250,000)
  • Nexus Community Partners ($100,000)
  • Northside Achievement Zone ($50,000)
  • OutFront ($50,000)
  • St. Paul Jewish Federation ($50,000)
  • The Catholic Community Foundation of Minnesota ($100,000)
  • Tiwahe Foundation ($100,000)
  • Tubman ($30,000)
  • White Earth Reservation Housing Authority ($100,000)

“We acknowledge Minnesota’s pervasive, systemic inequities, many of which are exacerbated by coronavirus, and are working to address them by providing resources to those with the greatest needs,” said Susie Brown, Minnesota Council on Foundations, President.

Future grants made by the Minnesota Disaster Recovery Fund will focus on community recovery, including a strong and healthy nonprofit sector, and a prosperous and equitable Minnesota.
