Luther Ranheim

Gift Planner

“I welcome the opportunity to grow our philanthropic community by engaging professional advisors, donors and nonprofits and facilitating conversations and actions that will ripple across our state.”

Luther Ranheim is a Gift Planner at the Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundation, where he partners with donors and their professional advisors to help bring their philanthropic goals to life. Drawing on more than two decades of experience in fundraising, gift planning, and relationship management, Luther cultivates high trust referral relationships across the financial, legal, and tax professions and serves as a thoughtful resource for donors navigating charitable and estate planning decisions.

Luther engages donors in meaningful conversations about what they care about most, listening closely and asking intentional questions to identify the right tools and giving strategies. These include donor advised funds, gifts of non-cash assets, and long-term legacy planning. He also partners with nonprofit organizations to provide endowment management and planned giving solutions that build long-term sustainability and deepen their impact in community.

Before joining the Foundation, Luther held leadership and frontline fundraising roles with the Alzheimer’s Association, the Minnesota Orchestra, Greater Twin Cities United Way, MacPhail Center for Music, and in private client services at Bremer Bank and Wells Fargo. His career reflects a commitment to building relationships, fostering generosity, and advancing community-centered solutions.

Luther is an active civic and arts leader, currently serving on the boards of the Schubert Club and the Minneapolis Club. A South Minneapolis native now living in St. Paul’s Highland Park neighborhood, he enjoys the outdoors, cheering on Minnesota’s sports teams, and following the McLaren Formula One team.
