Mai-Anh Tran

Associate Vice President of Philanthropic Services

"I am humbled and excited to join a foundation that is deeply invested in shining a light on a stage that provides individuals and communities with opportunities to do their best, be their best, and show up for others. As an immigrant from Vietnam, I am proof that when we see value in all people and invest in their well-being, they can do great things. I look forward to paying it forward."

As the Associate Vice President of Philanthropic Services, Mai-Anh Tran supports a seasoned team of philanthropic advisors, gift planners and development & operations staff who provide high-touch services to donors, nonprofits, community affiliates and professional advisors across the state. In addition, she partners with some of the Foundation’s longest standing donors to help them with their philanthropic journey and charitable goals.

Mai-Anh has more than 25 years of experience in nonprofit management & executive leadership, board management, fundraising & donor relations, and marketing & communications. As a former executive director of several statewide and international youth-serving nonprofits, she advocated on the state and federal level for positive youth development funding priorities as a lobbyist.

Mai-Anh serves on the boards of the Minnesota Council on Foundations and is co-chair of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee; Raise the Barr, which provides financial assistance to single parents to finish college and provide economic mobility through a 2Gen strategy; and Minnesota Aurora, Minnesota’s pre-professional soccer club that is community owned and plays in the USL W League. She also serves in a board-advisory capacity for All Square, a civil rights social enterprise that invests in justice-impacted individuals.

Mai-Anh graduated from Michigan State University with a journalism degree and minor in English. She is a former Humphrey Policy Fellow at the University of Minnesota and completed the University of St. Thomas Institute for Executive Director Leadership program. She received her Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) certification through Boston University. Mai-Anh is a former TV journalist and anchored news and weather in several Midwest markets. She is a proud mom of two daughters, one in high school and one in college.
